01What is this tool?

A browser-side utility that reshapes any photo — a phone selfie, a studio print, a scanned print-out — into the standard passport-size format used across Indian recruitment portals, exam applications and ID forms: a fixed 200×230 px canvas, a plain background, and a file size small enough for slow upload forms yet clear enough to pass manual verification.

02How it works

  1. Proportional fit — your photo is scaled so the whole frame fits inside 200×230 px without stretching or squashing.
  2. Backdrop clean-up — transparent corners or uneven scan edges are filled with solid white so the final image reads as a plain-background headshot.
  3. Face-placement guide — an on-screen oval marks where the face should sit so eyes, chin and hairline stay inside the usual verification zone.
  4. Adaptive compression — JPG quality is stepped down gradually until the file lands inside your chosen size target.

Scaling formula

S = min( W_available / W_original , H_available / H_original )
W_available = 200 − (2 × padding)    H_available = 230 − (2 × padding)
X = (200 − W_original × S) / 2    Y = (230 − H_original × S) / 2
Target file size ≤ chosen limit (KB) — quality Q tested from 0.95 down to 0.15 in 0.08 steps.

02

Upload

Drag into the box above or click Browse.

03

Frame the face

Use the oval guide to keep your face centred and filling most of the frame.

04

Set the file limit

Slide to the size range your portal asks for — 45 KB is a safe default.

05

Convert & download

Click Resize, then Download, and upload the saved .jpg to your form.

05Getting a clean source photo

  • Stand against a plain, light-coloured wall — no patterns or shadows
  • Face the camera straight-on with a neutral expression
  • Remove sunglasses and, where the form allows, tinted glasses
  • Use even daylight or front-facing light — avoid harsh side shadows
  • Keep the shot sharp and in focus before uploading

06Practical uses

  • Recruitment portals — SSC, banking, railway and state-level exam applications asking for a small-dimension headshot.
  • Passport & visa forms — quick draft-size previews before a formal studio print is arranged.
  • ID and access cards — office, campus or membership ID systems with fixed photo specs.

08FAQ

What is the standard passport-size photo dimension?

This tool targets 200×230 px, a size commonly requested by Indian recruitment and exam portals.

Why does my file get rejected even under the size limit?

Portals often reject non-white backgrounds or wrong pixel dimensions too — this tool fixes both at once, not just file size.

Can I upload a PNG or screenshot?

Yes — any common image format works. The tool always outputs a standard .jpg.

Will my face look stretched or squashed?

No — the image is scaled proportionally, never stretched, so facial features keep their natural shape.

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No — everything happens locally in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing is sent to or stored on a server.

🔒 100% local processing — your photo never leaves this browser tab.
